Wisconsin State Broadband Office Launches High Speed Internet Access Demand Survey

The State Broadband Office at the Wisconsin Public Service Commission has announced the release of its High Speed Internet Access Demand Survey.  Used as a tool to allow residents and businesses the opportunity to voice their need for improved internet access or service, the goal of the survey is to help state planners and policy makers better understand consumer demand for internet access in Wisconsin.

Primrose Lutheran Church Summer Luncheon

The Women of Primrose Lutheran Church are having their annual Summer Luncheon on Thursday, August 18, 2016. The bazaar and bake sale will start at 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Room, and Luncheon at Noon in our Basement Dining Area, serving hot dishes, salads, dinner rolls and dessert. The program will start at 1:00 p.m., with “Rosalie and Ron Kittleson.” $500.00 will be donated to support Sugar Creek Bible Camp.
We would like to thank the Thrivent Financial Action Team for their support.
Primrose Lutheran Church is located at 8770 Ridge Drive, Belleville, Wisconsin.

MELVIN W. FUCHS

Melvin Walter Fuchs, age 81, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016, at the New Glarus Home. He was born on May 7, 1935, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison to his parents, Walter and Katherine (Waelti) Fuchs.
Melvin graduated from New Glarus High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army and Army Reserve. On November 29, 1958, he was united in marriage to Rose Kiechle. Melvin worked for Briggs Transportation in Monroe and retired in 1988. He was a member of the St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe.

Relay for Life of Green County Plans a Busy August

The Relay For Life of Green County had a successful event on June 18th at Brodhead High School. Currently, over $29,000 has been raised for the event. Fourteen teams, 93 participants, sponsors, survivors and volunteers raised money through donations, sponsorships, silent auction, dessert auction, Miss Relay and a variety of activities. Turner Hall hosted a post event fundraiser on June 26th with the support of the Greg Anderson Band that raised over $400.

A Lovely Weekend for Festivals in New Glarus

On Saturday, August 6, the New Glarus Fire Department hosted their annual family-friendly event, Firefest. The day began with lots of fun things for kids to do, including kids waterfights, a spray house and inflatable rides. In the afternoon there was an open waterfight tournament and music by the Greenfield Brothers, followed by a steak fry and the evening ended with music by Cherry Pie.

Belleville Community Picnic is coming up August 11-14, 2016, at Sugar River Park, and there is plenty to keep the whole family busy all weekend!
The fun kicks off on Thursday, August 11th, with Bingo from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Bingo not your thing? Try Adult Kickball from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., or join the open Cornholio Tournament at 7:00 p.m. Head over to Community Park to check out the Co-ed Softball.

The Green County Aging and Disability Resource Center is offering a special trip to The House on the Rock in Spring Green on Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Highlights of the experience include a two-hour self-guided visit of sections 1 and 2 of The House on the Rock. First you will visit the Asian Garden, The Alex Jordan Center and Sculpture Pavilion, The Gate House and the Original House and Infinity Room.

What to Do if There's a Bat in Your Bedroom

This is the time of year when bats start showing up in people’s houses. This can be not only an unsettling experience; it also can pose a serious health risk.
Bats are primary carriers of rabies, and bat bites are often hard to detect.  Finding a bat in a bedroom in the morning raises the concern that someone may have been bitten by the bat while they were sleeping. Since exposure to rabies can be deadly, it is important to do everything possible to assess this risk; and that might mean suppressing your first impulse.
