New Glarus Lions Club Celebrates 75 Years of Service

The New Glarus Lions Club celebrated 75 years of service to the community with an event at Edelweiss Chalet Country Club on Saturday, August 13, 2016.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by Tony Zgraggen and alphorn players George Albright and Heinz Mattmann. During the program, Melvin Jones Fellowships were presented to Larry Hauge and Richard Arn.

Belleville Community Picnic - What a Blast!

Belleville Community Picnic was held on August 11-14, 2016, and offered fun for all ages! Although Friday night's rain sent people rushing for cover, the fireworks went on. Green County Juniors Place at State 4-H Dairy Judging Contest

The 2016 Wisconsin State 4-H Dairy Judging Contest was held at the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Black River Falls in conjunction with the State Guernsey and Ayrshire show on Monday, July 18, 2016. Green County's 4-H Junior Dairy Judging team qualified to attend this contest by earning second place at the 4-H Area Animal Science Day contest on July 1st. For these contests, the youth use their knowledge of dairy to place four animals in each class based on breeding characteristics and to participate in group reasoning justifications.

Antlers, the boney structures deer, elk and moose, produce anew each summer are a reason why so many people admire Wisconsin's white-tailed deer.  In general, only the males produce a set of antlers each summer and then drop them during the winter.  A few females do the same, but losing their antlers or even the velvet from the antlers, are less regular.

Annual Photography Contest Celebrates 27 Years

Now in its 27th year, the Monroe Arts Center (MAC) Annual Photography Contest is seeking your best photographs for inclusion in this event.  Photographs entered in this contest will be on exhibit in MAC’s Frehner Gallery from September 2nd through October 28th.  An opening reception for this exhibit is scheduled for Friday, September 2, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with an awards presentation at 6:00 p.m.

Spring and Summer Team Sportsmanship Award Winners Selected

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association, in partnership with Rural Mutual Insurance Company, has selected the team Sportsmanship Award winners for the 2016 Spring and Summer State Team Tournaments.
The winners of the prestigious award are Waupaca in spring baseball, Delavan-Darien in softball, Neenah in boys tennis, Belleville/New Glarus in girls soccer and Menomonee Falls in summer baseball.
