Public Hearing on EMS

The Village of Monticello Public Safety Committee will hold a public hearing at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at the Monticello School Library, 334 S. Main Street, Monticello, WI. The public is invited to attend this hearing, the purpose of which is to consider switching Emergency Medical Services from New Glarus Area EMS to Green County EMS. At the hearing all interested citizens will be afforded an opportunity to obtain information and present their views on the issue. Written comments are also invited from interested citizens.

Whooping Crane Festival Celebrating the Return of Endangered Whooping Cranes

The 2016 Whooping Crane Festival will be held September 8-11, in Princeton, Wisconsin, and other locations in the area. The festival weekend includes a free all day event for all ages on Saturday, September 10, at the Princeton Public School. For information on additional activities during the festival, visit operationmigration.org. Some of these activities require registration and a nominal fee.

Wisconsin Horse Diagnosed with West Nile Virus

A 4-year-old unvaccinated Quarter Horse gelding from St. Croix County is the first reported Wisconsin horse to have become infected and die from West Nile Virus (WNV) this year.  Horse owners are urged to get horses vaccinated to prevent further spread of WNV and another mosquito-borne disease, Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE). Neither of the viruses is contagious between horses, but can be carried by mosquitos from an avian, or bird, host to horses and humans. While humans may also be infected by both WNV and EEE, the viruses do not pass directly between people and horses.

Green County Master Gardeners to Tour Hawk's Mill Winery

The Green County Master Gardeners will be holding their monthly tour on Thursday, August 25, at 7:00 p.m., at the Hawk’s Mill Winery in Browntown, WI. Anyone interested in basic guidelines for growing grapes and making wine is welcome to join the association at the tour location and you do not have to be a Master Gardener to attend.

School District of Belleville 2016-2017 School Registration Information

Registration Days are Monday, August 22, 2016, from 12:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., and Tuesday, August 23rd, from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., at the Belleville High School. School pictures will be taken at these walk-in events. You will also receive transportation/bus route assignments, pay food service fees, receive health screenings, get homeroom assignments and supply lists, and be able to obtain information from various clubs, athletics and community organizations. Computers will also be available for those who still need to complete online registration.
