Once again you will have the wonderful opportunity to give the gift of life on August 19, 2016. Maybe it will be somebody you know or a stranger somewhere across the country, where blood could be desperately needed.  As usual, the blood supplies run a little short as people are on vacation or whatever.  As a special incentive the Red Cross has made a great offer through the month of August:

Frank Grateful For Quick Response

Dear Editor,
When I was sitting on my front porch last Wednesday evening, a wasp flew up to my face and bit my chin, then it bit my finger. When I got up to get some ice for it, I felt dizzy and my vision was full of black clouds. My husband and daughter-in-law were nearby so they helped me into the house. My husband called 911, then opened the door to wave down the help. Well, our police were already there. Less than two minutes. He fitted me with an oxygen mask. I felt better because of two things: the oxygen and a police officer nearby.

New Glarus & Belleville Police Departments to Crackdown on Drunken Motorists

The New Glarus and Belleville Police Departments will be out with other law enforcement agencies throughout Wisconsin and the rest of the nation for the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown on drunken drivers from August 19 to September 5, which includes the Labor Day weekend.
Drunken driving is entirely preventable. If we can deter people from getting behind the wheel when they’re not sober, we will make progress toward the goal of reaching zero preventable traffic deaths in Wisconsin.
