Chainsaw Artist Makes Welcome Sign for Sugar River Storage

Sugar River Storage, 700 4th Street, Albany, used to have a Pine tree, but not anymore! The owners had it transformed into a bear. One if the owners, Wayne Nipple, is shown standing beside it, before and after. Zoli, from Zoli’s Woodcarving in Monroe, completed the transformation in about two hours on Memorial Day weekend. Stop by and see it. Sugar River Storage is owned by family Wayne and Nora Belle Nipple, Larry and Norma Nipple and Jocelyn Nipple.

WISTAX: Municipal Spending Up 1.8%

Total operational spending in Wisconsin’s cities and villages with populations over 2,000 saw modest increases for a second straight year in 2014, rising 1.8% from $841 to $856 per resident, according to a new study.

Passport Fair at the New Glarus Post Office

The Belleville Post Office is hosting a special passport event in New Glarus, WI, on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., to provide passport information to U.S. citizens and to accept passport applications. The New Glarus Post Office is joining the Department of State in celebrating travel with a passport acceptance and outreach fair.

The Green County Land and Water Conservation Department, along with the Natural Resources Conservation Service, present their 2016 Pasture Walk, “Grazing the Summer Lull” at Holmstrom’s Grassy Acres, N9276 Hay Hollow Road, Blanchardville.
Jamie, his wife Deanne and daughter Samantha milk 40 cows on pasture. The cows are fed on a strictly grasses diet—no grains. The cows main forage in the summer is Sudan grass. Jamie feels he gets twice as much forage from the Sudan grass than his traditional pasture/hay grasses.
